- American National Standards Institute (ANSI) The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has served as administrator and coordinator of the U.S. private-sector voluntary standardization system for 78 years. Founded in 1918 by five engineering societies and three government agencies, the Institute remains a private, nonprofit membership organization supported by a diverse constituency of private- and public-sector organizations.

- Council of Higher Education Management Associations (CHEMA) The Council of Higher Education Management Associations (CHEMA) is an informal voluntary assembly of thirty management-oriented higher education associations in the United States and Canada. By sharing information, comparing experiences, and working collectively on projects of shared interest, CHEMA members maximize their resources and create substantial benefits for the colleges and universities they represent. CHEMA traces its roots to a group of association executives who attended the NACUBO annual meetings in the late sixties. Support services for CHEMA are provided by NACUBO from its Washington, D.C. offices.

- Middle States Regional Accreditation Association The Commission on Higher Education is the unit of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools that accredits degree-granting colleges and universities in the Middle States region. It examines the institution as a whole, rather than specific programs within the institution. The criteria and process for assessing institutional excellence are summarized at this site, as are available publications.

- National Consortium for Continuous Improvement (NCCI) NCCI is committed to advancing administrative and academic excellence in higher education by identifying, promoting, supporting, and sharing effective organizational practices among member institutions. NCCI supports the professional development of individuals at member institutions through sponsorship of peer learning opportunities such as conferences, workshops, electronic and print publications, collaborative research, and other activities.

- National Standards System Network (NSSN) The NSSN is a web-based system designed to provide users with a wide range of standards information from major standards developers. The NSSN Basic service is provided free of charge over the web. Users are able to search the databases for approved standards.
- NCA The North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) is a non-profit organization, accrediting more than 9,000 schools in eight categories in 19 states: elementary, middle, secondary, college preparatory, vocational/adult, special purpose, unit (K-12), and Department of Defense Dependents' Schools overseas. NCA CASI is an accreditation, evaluation, and school improvement organization. To become a member of NCA CASI, a school must meet NCA CASI's standards, conduct a self-study, and adopt a model of continuous school improvement (also known as seeking an endorsement) that focuses on improving student performance.
- North Central Regional Accreditation Association-Academic Quality Improvement Process (AQIP)AQIP is an alternative to the traditional North Central accreditation process. Any Commission-accredited institution not on probation is eligible to participate and use this model for maintaining its accreditation.

- Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) The Society for College and University Planning, established in 1965, is the only association focused on the promotion, advancement, and application of effective planning in higher education. The Society's organizing principle is that planning is essential to improving and maintaining the fitness, vitality, and quality of higher education.
